Need a little help with your summer gardens?
We've got you covered!
Plan and Prepare
* Clean up winter debris from landscape beds and/or garden area.
* Clean out last year's containers thoroughly to make sure that there are no lingering fungi, bacteria, or plant diseases.
* Get rid of used potting mix left in your containers and start fresh. Last year's used potting mix is most likely depleted of nutrients and may carry disease or fungus from prior year.
* Plant perennials in April, they can take the cooler night temps. Pansies, cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower are also appropriate to plant in April.
* Plan your gardens before you shop.
1. Select your garden/landscape area and measure.
2. Determine the amount of sunlight the area receives and at what time of day.
3. Start a small garden notebook or file to plan and track your garden progress. Make notes of plant progress throughout the season. It will be a handy resource when it comes to planning next year's garden.
